‘Swinton Work’
‘Swinton Work’ focuses on documenting the town in which I live. It is rare that I would walk around the hidden side streets or even along the main roads - I normally just drive through, but by doing this I haven’t been exposed to what the town is like.
Throughout my work there are no hidden agendas. I document what I see - not casting my own views by focusing on anything specific. I want you to form your own opinion of the town as you view these
images. What you see is what you get - I want to portray my town for how it is, not for how I would want others to see it. Of course you can’t get a detailed idea here, there will be more to come with this project.
Taking inspiration from Documentary Photographer Tom Wood, I have been aimlessly wandering around the streets of Swinton and composing shots which either look interesting to me or add to the story of the town. Where he was focusing on people and place, I have just been focusing on place. This work focuses more on the town’s environment and what it looks like to live here, not the people that do.
